The exhibition is a combination of fieldwork, interviews, and multimedia documentation providing a rich narrative about the Salt Lake and the lives of those who depend on it for their livelihoods.This series of work by Bahraini Artist Jaffar Al Oraibi, is a comprehensive research project that merges scientific inquiry with artistic expression over a two year period.
Al Oraibi focused on monitoring variables and their impacts, which has been crucial in highlighting the relationship between environmental conditions and human activity. By utilizing both current and archived images, this exhibition not only documents the changes over time but also creates a powerful visual dialogue about the lake's health and the community's connection to it.
The artistic series developed, through print works, photographs, installations, and found objects, offers viewers a unique perspective on these interactions. It is intended to communicate the complexities of this relationship and raises awareness about the challenges faced by both the lake and the people harvesting its salt.

About the artist:
Jaffar Al Oraibi (b. 1976, Manama, Bahrain) is a Bahraini multimedia artist and painter. Al Oraibi holds a Bachelor degree in Education from the University of Bahrain, The artist’s work depicts his exploration of the individual’s role in society, and their environmental interaction. Al Oraibi’s multimedia works are produced through a meticulous process that begins with observation, to executing layered sketches, etching, incision, and collaging. The artist emphasizes on the importance of the laborious process as a component of his work that allows room for a multilayered, nuanced narrative. Al Oraibi’s dominant usage of gestural, chaotic markings often highlights the feeling of alienation between the individual and the group. Jaffar held a number of personal exhibitions in Bahrain and Dubai and participated in many artistic events in various countries of the world. Jaffar participated in artistic residencies programs in both Paris and London and New York.
